On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and evidence obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most publicized missing child cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.

The panel was informed that through emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who collated the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I won't give up and I will prove my position."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the period before the trip to that location, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court heard correspondence between the two defendants, in November 2024, considering attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a eating establishment.

"We need to assert ourselves," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the trip to their home, Mrs Spragg transmitted a communication which expressed: "We are positioned adjacent to the McCanns' home with our lights out like detectives. I wanted to do this with Peter Andrew I hadn't anticipated I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The proceedings ongoing.
