Aryna Sabalenka finished the year with an outstanding 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.

She received nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.
