The relatives of teens lost after a devastating blaze at a establishment in a Switzerland's ski resort are enduring an agonising wait for confirmed information and appealing for any details about their family members via social media.
The inferno devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed footage show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Officials have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed four dozen individuals and injured another over a hundred. Officials stated on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process continuing to locate the remaining few.
In the meantime, relatives have been posting on social media to appeal for any news about their friends who were in attendance that evening.
Desperate Searches for the Missing
The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his mother.
The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but could not find him.
"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she said.
She added that some of his peers had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured an absolute nightmare."
The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its citizens have not been located.
Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.
